How I Turned Two Simple Questions Into SEO Assets That Drive Local Leads

When most contractors run Google Ads, they only think about the immediate clicks and calls. But what if you could take that same search data and turn it into long-term SEO assets that rank, generate leads, and feed your business for years?

That’s exactly what I did with Concrete Sarnia — a local lead generation site I built to capture cement and concrete jobs across Lambton County. Here’s how I did it step by step.

Step 1: Start With Real Search Intent

Because I had Google Ads running, I could see the exact kinds of questions homeowners were asking. Two queries stood out:

  • “Who does cement work near me”

  • “Who does concrete driveways near me”

Notice something? They weren’t localized. That meant there was an opportunity: if I added “in Sarnia-Lambton”, I could own those searches on both paid and organic.

Step 2: Use the QBT Framework

I call this the Question-Based Topic (QBT) format. It’s simple:

  • The question becomes the blog title

  • The blog post answers the query directly

  • The content is structured to both rank in Google and funnel readers toward a service page

Example:

  • Blog Title: Who Does Cement Work Near Me in Sarnia-Lambton?

  • Blog Title: Who Does Concrete Driveways Near Me in Sarnia-Lambton?

This matches the way people actually search and improves the odds of getting picked up in Google’s AI Overviews.

Step 3: Build Local Authority

A key part of local SEO is showing Google (and customers) that you actually serve their area. So in each QBT post, I included a section like this:

Which Lambton County Communities Do We Do Cement Work On?

Then I listed out every single community in the region: Sarnia, Point Edward, Bright’s Grove, Corunna, Petrolia, Wyoming, Watford, Oil Springs, Alvinston, Brooke-Alvinston, Plympton-Wyoming, St. Clair Township, Lambton Shores (Grand Bend, Forest, Port Franks, Thedford, Arkona, Ipperwash), and Enniskillen.

This sends strong geo-relevance signals and captures long-tail searches tied to each community.

Step 4: Publish & Interlink

Once the QBT posts were written, I:

  1. Published them under the right categories (Concrete Driveways, Cement Work & Flatwork, Concrete in Sarnia-Lambton, Concrete FAQs).

  2. Linked them back to the main service money pages.

  3. Interlinked them to each other (cement ↔ driveways).

That created a tight silo structure Google loves:
Money Page → QBT Posts → Local Coverage + FAQs.

Step 5: Stack the Signals

Publishing is only half the job. To really accelerate results, I stacked signals across channels:

  • Google Ads Site Links → added the QBT posts as ad extensions to feed cheap clicks and engagement.

  • Google Business Profile Posts → shared each QBT post as a GBP update with a link back.

  • Facebook Shares → used the GBP post link to share into the business page and local community groups.

  • Boosted Post (optional) → small ad spend ($20–$50) to generate more behavioral signals and awareness.

This combination tells Google: “People are searching, engaging, and clicking on this content across multiple surfaces.” That’s how you accelerate authority.

Step 6: Conversion-Ready CTAs

Each QBT post ends with a tailored call-to-action. Not generic fluff — but service-specific CTAs that actually convert.

For cement work:
“Contact us today to schedule your estimate and let Concrete Sarnia deliver the durable, high-quality cement work your home or business deserves.”

For driveways:
“Contact us today to schedule your free estimate. Let Concrete Sarnia give your home the curb appeal, durability, and long-term value that only a professionally installed concrete driveway can provide.”

That way, even informational searchers are funneled toward the service.

The Results: From Two Questions to a Scalable System

In just a few hours, I turned two simple Google Ads queries into:

  • Two published QBT posts (cement work + driveways)

  • Local authority content covering all of Lambton County

  • A clean silo structure that strengthens service pages

  • Conversion-optimized CTAs that generate leads

  • Signal stacking strategy across Ads, GBP, and social

And here’s the best part: this process is repeatable for every contractor service vertical. Driveways, patios, foundations, decorative concrete, roofing, siding, plumbing — anywhere people type questions into Google.
